This workshop is scheduled on the 10th and 11th of October, from 10 am to 16 pm. This workshop is given in English.
This masterclass focuses on creating thin porcelain slabs and joining them to form elegant vessels. Justine will demonstrate her techniques and share a variety of methods that students can use to achieve diverse results. You will learn how to incorporate patterns and textures into your work, as well as Justine’s approach to using underglazes and simple clear glazes. While there will be no kiln firing during the workshop, Justine will discuss her firing process in detail. You will design and build vessels using your own templates, which will be explored and discussed throughout the workshop. By the end of the two days, all participants will have a deeper understanding of hand-building with porcelain and will leave with pieces ready for bisque firing. Throughout the course, there will be ample opportunity for discussion, individual feedback, and support.

About
Since graduating from Camberwell College of Art in 1998, Justine Allison has focused on hand-built porcelain. Her work balances function and decoration, with form and aesthetics at the heart of each piece. She explores the simplicity and beauty of clay, using pattern, texture, and glaze to create subtle, unique variations. Thinness and movement are central to her work. Originally inspired by the energy of city life in London, Justine has lived and worked in rural Wales since 2003, where new surroundings continue to inspire fresh directions and discoveries in her practice.
