About the teacher:

Amanda-Sue Rope is a ceramicist based in London. Combining working at the wheel with hand-building Amanda-Sue creates constructed forms in red and white stoneware clay. Inspired by geometry and the richness of the built environment, recent work has focused on themes of stacking and assembling component thrown forms to create hybrid, architectonic vessels with rhythmic textured surfaces. Colours range from the earthy and elemental to spots of saturated acid and pastel hues using a range of oxides washes and engobes. Glaze is applied to the inside of the vessel to mark the transition from interior and exterior. Works can be experienced both individually and in groups, where the spatial relationships and interaction of light can be further explored.
