This workshop is scheduled on the 11,12 and 13th of Sept, from 10 am to 16 pm. This workshop is given in English.
For sculptors, jewelry designers, ceramicists and creatives. You need to have some experience on wheel throwing. (no need to be an expert)
This workshop is focused on experimentation and analysis of the creative process during the elaboration of porcelain jewelry pieces on the potter’s wheel. We will analyze the different materials and working methods and use the potter’s wheel as an experimental and creative tool.
We will work in depth on the concept of design as a fundamental part of the creation of a piece of jewelry, as well as its staging.
DAY 1:
- Experimental demonstration of wheel applied to jewelry.
- Wheel throwing of a series of pieces
- Methods and techniques of working with porcelain & colors.
- Special emphasis on finishing, sanding and drying.
- Firing
DAY 2:
- Projection of different creators of contemporary jewelry.
- Kiln opening
- With the pieces made we will make a study of composition and shape.
- Assembly of the pieces made by using recycled materials and metal pieces provided by the participants. We will look for different creative solutions of composition.
DAY 3:
- Finishing of pieces with the interaction of all participants.
- Creative solutions when displaying a piece of jewelry.
- Staging of the elaborated pieces.
- Lecture about Marta’s career and personal work.
- Discussion with the participants and final conclusion.

About
Marta Armada (Vigo, Spain, 1967) is an internationally recognized ceramic artist and jewelry designer. She studied ceramics in Vigo and Madrid and creates contemporary porcelain jewelry and small sculptures inspired by travel, personal experiences, and cultural encounters. Marta has participated in residencies in China, Portugal, and Taiwan, and completed projects in Australia, Tasmania, and Finland. Her work has been exhibited worldwide, including in China, Japan, Germany, Australia, and Canada, and is held in permanent collections in China, Taiwan, and Australia. Her practice explores themes such as travel, the sea, silence, human presence, and the intersection of painting, sculpture, and design. Marta’s pieces offer an intimate, personal vision of the microcosm she reflects in her work, combining curiosity, honesty, and determination to create objects that are both delicate and expressive.
